January 2026 - Winter Social Sees Splendid Support

On a wet and miserable Sunday in December, the village hall seemed even more welcoming than usual as members arrived for the winter social and competitions. Tables and chairs were arranged and everything set up for the event. Entries were recorded under the supervision of Jo Castle and June Pollard who would also be collating all the results.

As usual, Chairman, Maggie Wright, began proceedings with the notices and also few words about the excellent venue and the friendliness of the club.There was definitely a warm atmosphere as members got down to the serious business of judging.

It was very encouraging to see so many entries in all classes, particularly the novices who are sometimes rather shy about showing their work, feeling it is not good enough. Competition however, encourages a higher standard of work as was evident from the submissions.
