April 2026 - Demo Day with Gary Rance

The March meeting began as usual, with the notices give out by Chairman, Maggie Wright. Maggie then introduced well known turner Gary Rance, who was demonstrating for the day. Gary is a true production turner who began a turning career as an apprentice when he was a teenager. He learnt his trade on basic wooden lathes with none of the chucks, sharpening systems and accessories available to turners today. Since then his career has evolved to include artistic work and demonstrations alongside the production work.
